Woah! It's taken a long time but they're finally here. NEW EGGS! This is a project we have been working on for a while. I believe I started the resculpt back at the end of 2019 because we had intended to release them in April 2020. But...well, y'all know what happened. We had a fairly disastrous departure from Etsy and then the pandemic locked everything down while simultaneously increasing demand on our shop BY A LOT! So yeah, the eggs got shelved...UNTIL NOW!
I loved our old eggs, but they were hand sculpted and had a lot of issues with bubbles on the surface. Our new eggs have been sculpted digitally and have much fewer bubble issues! There's still a spot or two that is prone to getting bubbles, but it's something we can work on fixing a lot easier with these models. As well, the bubbles are fewer and easier to spot and clean.
We have a whole line-up planned for the eggs, but for now we're starting by releasing our updated small eggs! They are similar in size to the original eggs, but there's a bit more variance from egg to egg. The intent was to create eggs that all have the same height but increasing diameter for those who like a challenge or want to try sizing up. If you look at the comparison image you will notice that style A is much more narrow than style D. A also has the least amount of texture, so I recommend looking for that model if you're just dipping your toes into using eggs. Our small eggs will be available in the same 2 packs we used to offer, but these will be $25 each instead of the old price of $20. This is because these eggs take more silicone to make.
The approximate sizing for the small eggs is as follows:
Height of all eggs: 2.5 inches
Circumference of A: 6 inches
Diameter of A: 1.75 inches
Circumference of B: 6 inched
Diameter of B: 1.75 inches
Circumference of C: 6.5 inches
Diameter of C: 2 inches
Circumference of D: 7 inches
Diameter of D: 2 inches
Small Eggs will be available in drops starting April 2nd!
But what's next for our egg line-up? Well, I don't have a solid ETA, but I'm expecting we'll release the next size of eggs in the drop on April 16th. Those will be our mini eggs! They'll be even smaller than our small eggs and perfect for those who aren't quite ready for the smalls. Also perfect for squishing and just generally tossing around. All 4 styles shown above will be made as mini eggs. Those will be available as blind bags of 2 for $12 and will be sorted by firmness. Because they're so small and we hope to make a LOT of them, we won't be listing them individually. They'll be a surprise, much like our Little Fellas :D This helps us keep costs low by eliminating the need to sort and photo each individual set.
We're also working on new medium sized eggs! There will be two styles offered for the medium eggs, styles B and D above. Again, we want to offer a little variation in size for the eggs as we go up. I don't have an ETA for when the mediums will be ready, but they're definitely in process right now. They will be sold as singles in drops, same as the old medium sized eggs were.
They're a bit further out right now, but we also intend to make large sized eggs as well! Our intent is to make the A and C style into large size eggs with 2 different diameters. These haven't been printed yet, so I don't have much info beyond our intent to make them.
Also on the egg docket is a return of our very popular egg strokers! We made them for April Fools a few years ago but the technique we used was not sustainable for the molds, so we had to discontinue them. But there was enough community interest that it convinced us to give them a go again, this time with our new digital egg sculpts! These are very tentative as they haven't been worked on just yet. I make no promises beyond saying that they're being worked on right now! We will provide more info as we get further into production.
WHEW! That's a lot of egg news! It was such a bummer to have to push our eggs back as far as we did, but now that they're finally in production I'm so excited to show them to you all! I hope you'll enjoy the new eggs. Hopefully this is just the start of even more egg projects ;D
